Step 1: Prepare for the installation

1. ____  Determine if WebSphere Application Server (WAS) V6.0 for OS/400 is already installed on our server.

   Note that we are looking for version 6.0 only, not previous versions of the product.

2. ____  Read the Overview of WAS V6.0 for OS/400.

3. ____  Read the product Release Notes for the appropriate version of WAS.

4. ____  Schedule enough time for each step of the process.

5. ____  Determine which components we need to install.

6. ____  Verify that our system meets all hardware and software prerequisites, and install prerequisite software if necessary.
   • ____  iSeries hardware requirements.
   • ____  iSeries software requirements.

7. ____  Verify that our workstation meets all hardware and software prerequisites, and install prerequisite software if necessary.

8. ____  Obtain and install the correct OS/400 cumulative PTF package.

9. ____  Obtain WAS and current fixes.

   • ____  WAS Group PTF

Step 2: Install WAS

1. ____  Install WAS on our iSeries server.

2. ____  Install the WAS group PTF.

Step 3: Configure WAS

1. ____  Configure software license information.

2. ____  Set SQL server jobs.

3. ____  Configure TCP/IP.

4. ____  Configure an HTTP server instance.

Step 4: Start WAS

1. ____  Start WAS.

2. ____  Verify that WAS is running.

3. ____  Start the administrative console.

4. ____  Configure the virtual host.

5. ____  Start the HTTP server.

Step 5: Verify the installation

1. ____  Verify the installation.
