Select the components to install

Before you install WebSphere Application Server Version 6.0 for OS/400, decide which components you require. By default, all components are installed. See the component descriptions below for more information on each installable component.

WebSphere Application Server Core Product Option
This component installs the application server runtime, samples, java documentation (javadoc) for the WebSphere Application Server application programming interfaces (APIs), Web server plugins and application client runtime.

• Samples
  If you do not want to use the WebSphere Application Server samples, you can deselect this optional feature. For more information, see Samples and applications.

• Javadoc
  If you do not want to use the java documentation for the supported WebSphere Application Server APIs, you can deselect this optional feature.

Web server plugins
This component provides the necessary files and Web server plugins for running remote HTTP servers to access WebSphere Application Server. For more information, see Communicating with Web servers.

Application client
This component provides the client application development and runtime portion of the WebSphere Application Server product. This component allows you to compile your client application code and run both Java 2 Enterprise Edition (J2EE) client applications and thin applications. For more information, see Application clients in Application development.
