Changing defining attributes

You might want to change a defining attribute for a product if the manufacturer has come out with a new shade for example, the color red is now called riveting red.


Procedure

  1. Open the Catalogs tool.

  2. From the explorer tree, select a catalog.

  3. Find the product that to add a defining attribute to.

  4. Right-click the product; then click Open. The Product Properties view displays.

  5. Click the Defining Attributes tab.

  6. In the list view, right-click the defining attribute that to change; then click Open. The Attribute Properties view displays.

  7. Expand the Attribute Properties section. Complete the following information:

    Option Description
    Display name The name of the attribute to be displayed in the attribute dictionary Main work area.
    Data Type The type of attribute such as text, whole number, or decimal number. When you select a data type, the attribute value section displays. This field is not editable.
    Sequence The order in which the object is displayed. Numbers are displayed in ascending order.
    Description Type in a description of the attribute.

  8. Change the defining attribute value.

  9. Click Save and Close, or click Close.
