Changing descriptive attributes

You might want to change a descriptive attribute for a product if a certain condition has changed, for example the product is now machine washable, instead of dry clean only.

Procedure

  1. Open the Catalogs tool.

  2. Find the product that to add a descriptive attribute to.

  3. In the list view or explorer tree, right-click the product; then click Open. The Product Properties view displays.

  4. Click the Descriptive Attributes tab.

  5. Click the descriptive attribute to change on the descriptive attribute table; then press Enter. The fields on the table are now editable.

  6. Change attribute information. Complete the following information:

    Option Description
Display name The name of the attribute to be displayed in the storefront.
Data Type The type of attribute such as text, whole number, or decimal number. When you select a data type, the attribute value section displays. This field is not editable.
Sequence The order in which the object is displayed. Numbers are displayed in ascending order.
Value The name of the attribute associated with the product, such as color and size. The attribute name is determined when the product group is created. For example, the product group "Men's carpenter jeans" can have two attributes: color and size. Each product within this group includes color and size values, such as "Men's carpenter jeans, indigo blue, 36 inch waist and 38 inch length".
    Description A brief description.

  7. Click Save and Close, or click Close.
