Portal Express, Version 6.0
Operating systems: i5/OS, Linux, Windows
Install on i5/OS
Overview
Using the option...
Install only...copies install image files from the Setup CDs to the hard drive.
At this point the CDs are no longer required, and you can continue installation...
- Remotely using install400.bat from a mapped drive on a Windows PC
- Locally using install.sh file on the System i5 machine
Upon a second invocation of the installation program, the option...
Install and configure...is automatically used to complete the installation of WebSphere Portal Express and offer a functional portal.
Install and configure results in a functional portal configuration that might require manual adjustments through the use of a configuration program running configuration tasks. Install and configure will:
- Install a WAS profile...
wp_profilex... on an existing edition of WAS that has had updates applied
- Extract the archived, pre-configured WebSphere Portal Express image into the newly created WAS profile
Portlets are pre-deployed, WebSphere Portal Express fix pack updates are applied, and security is enabled
- Assign a DB2 database library to the portal...
QWPE6001- Create a single administrator user ID...
wpdb2insx...which allows easy administrative access to the DB2 for i5/OS database This user ID coordinates with the WAS profile name and to the database domain names.
- Assign WebSphere Portal Express database domain names
When complete there is a working portal with deployed portlets and security enabled. The portal's DB2 administrator user ID is coordinated with the WAS profile name and to the database domain names.
To install with WAS v6.0.2.17 or higher, WAS must be installed into the default installation directory. If WAS is not installed in the default installation directory, WebSphere Portal Express cannot be installed.
If a full installation has already been completed, re-invoking the installation program installs a subsequent WebSphere Portal Express profile.
This option allows the addition of more than one portal on the same System i5 server where WebSphere Portal Express was installed. The single DB2 administrator user ID assigned during installation will coordinate with the portal profile name. For example, on the first install iteration the user ID is wpdb2ins and the profile name is wp_profile. The second iteration user ID would be wpdb2ins1 and the profile name would be wp_profile1.
At the completion of the installation program, the local DB2 for i5/OS database is fully configured.
There is an option to transfer information including the six portal database domains to a remote DB2 for i5/OS.
Portal is configured as a WAS profile.
Follow steps outlined in Configuring DB2 for i5/OS.
Post-install steps

- OS/400 - Additional Fonts (5722SS1, Option 43) is an environment where an application renders images on an X server machine, and facilitates viewing 3D graphics on a low-end system for casual users. Installing this X Virtual Frame Buffer option allows the X server to initialize and run without the presence of any physical graphics adapter.
- Here is the LDAP user registry section.
- Set up the Tivoli Directory Server, and configure an -i5/OS Tivoli Directory Server over SSL.
