Document Rendering on i5/OS
To make document conversion possible, have...
OS/400 - Additional Fonts (5722SS1, Option 43)...running on the i5/OS system.
This option includes an HTML rendering server known as X virtual frame buffer for the X server.
In order to enable the Document Manager functionality of IBM® WebSphere Portal Express on IBM i5/OS™, set up an HTML rendering server to work with WebSphere Portal Express.
Because i5/OS does not contain native graphics support, install OS/400 - Additional Fonts (5722SS1, Option 43) to perform the document conversion required by these functions. Document conversion enables WebSphere Portal Express to convert documents produced by commonly used office programs into Web pages, so that they can be viewed and searched by users online.
Prerequisite installations:
- WebSphere Portal Express
Write down the name of your WebSphere Portal Express profile.
- OS/400 - Additional Fonts (5722SS1, Option 43)
After OS/400 - Additional Fonts is running on your i5/OS system, configure an HTML rendering server.
The HTML rendering server (X virtual frame buffer for X server) that you associate with your WebSphere Portal Express profile should only be used for WebSphere Portal Express.
Using the HTML rendering server with other applications may cause problems.
- Configure an HTML rendering server on i5/OS
After you have installed OS/400 - Additional Fonts (5722SS1, Option 43) on your i5/OS system, an HTML rendering server (X virtual frame buffer for X server) is present. Follow the instructions in this section to select a display number for the HTML rendering server.
- Associate an HTML rendering server with WebSphere Portal Express
After selecting a display number for the HTML rendering server (X virtual frame buffer for X server), associate this server with the installed IBM WebSphere Portal Express profile.
