Prepare to use Management Center
Before you can use the Management Center to manage the catalogs, promotions, marketing, and assets, there are several steps take.
- Enable the Management Center
The Management Center is enabled by default in WebSphere Commerce version 7. You can disable the Management Center for a specific instance, but once disabled, it cannot be enabled again for that instance.To re-enable the Management Center after it has been disabled, create a new instance.Once you install a WebSphere Commerce Feature Pack, follow the steps on this page to enable the Management Center feature for the Feature Pack you installed. The Management Center feature delivered in a Feature Pack can be successfully re-enabled if you disabled it.
- Disable components in the WebSphere Commerce Accelerator
With this Feature Pack, new business user tooling is provided, called the Management Center. By default, after you have enabled the Management Center for Feature Pack 3, the individual tools within the Management Center are automatically enabled, so that the business users can be productive with it immediately.
- Disable the catalog tool in the WebSphere Commerce Accelerator
Once you have decided to use the new Catalog tool in the Management Center, disable the catalog tool in the WebSphere Commerce Accelerator to prevent the business users from creating catalogs using both the WebSphere Commerce Accelerator and the Management Center.
- Disable the promotions tool in the WebSphere Commerce Accelerator
Once you have decided to use the new Promotion tool in the Management Center, disable the promotions tool in the WebSphere Commerce Accelerator to prevent the business users from creating promotions using both the WebSphere Commerce Accelerator and the Management Center.
- Disable the marketing tool in the WebSphere Commerce Accelerator
Once you have decided to use the new Marketing tool in the Management Center, disable the marketing tool in the WebSphere Commerce Accelerator to prevent the business users from creating campaigns and activities using both the WebSphere Commerce Accelerator and the Management Center.
- Configure marketing for Management Center
To support features of the Marketing tool, there are a number of configuration tasks perform. For example, enable the Personalization ID and persistent sessions features to support certain triggers, targets, and actions in Web and Dialog activities.
- Use the attribute dictionary
You can use the attribute dictionary for a fast and efficient way to handle the attributes, while maintaining data retrieval performance.
