Common behavior WebSphere Commerce Accelerator differences Management Center differences What this means to you
A source category in a sales catalog can link to a target category in the sales catalog or the same sales catalog. A linked target category enables the source category to be synchronized so that changes are reflected in the source category.   Can link to a target category in the master catalog. Navigate through a sales catalog to the master catalog categories leads you back to the master catalog. Any changes made to the linked master catalog category are reflected in the master catalog itself.
Categories that are linked can have the links removed. Unlinking is supported anywhere on a node in the catalog tree, such as at the subcategory or catalog entry level. Unlinking is only supported at the root node where the link was made. To unlink below the root node where the link was made, copy the tree from the WebSphere Commerce Accelerator and only link where the tree must be synchronized.

Categories

This table describes the behavior of categories within the catalogs tool in WebSphere Commerce Accelerator and Management Center.
Common behavior WebSphere Commerce Accelerator differences Management Center differences What this means to you
Categories contain SKUs. A master catalog has a hierarchy of products with SKUs. A master catalog has product-level and category-level SKUs. Category-level SKUs are only available in Non-ATP stores.
Category hierarchies can be copied. Copy an entire hierarchy of categories and products from a sales or master catalog to a sales catalog is supported. Only one level of a hierarchy can be copied at a time. To copy hierarchies of categories and products using the Management Center, copy one level at a time.
Move categories within a catalog. You can move a category in the sales or master catalog. You can only move a category in the master catalog. Move a category in the sales catalog causes an exception, and results in an error being recorded in the error log. If this occurs, click File > Reload all; then close the application to clean up the user interface.
