Overview: Editing previously published WebSphere Commerce content using Web Content Management

This topic provides a high level overview of the steps involved in editing published WebSphere Commerce content using Web Content Management.Prerequisite:

Before you can edit WebSphere Commerce content using Web Content Management, have completed the following prerequisite tasks:

To edit published WebSphere Commerce content using IBM Workplace Web Content Management:

  1. In WebSphere Commerce, the Workspace Administrator does the following tasks:

    1. Creates a new workspace, task groups, and tasks.

    2. Activates the new task group.

When you activate the task group, email notification is sent to the content contributors. The notification indicates which task they have to work on, and workspace and task group details.

  2. In WebSphere Commerce, the Content Contributor does the following tasks:

    1. Selects the new content task as the workspace task to work on.

    2. Optional: Creates a new product or creates a new catalog category to associate with the Web Content Management content.

  3. In IBM Workplace Web Content Management, the Content Contributor does the following tasks:

    1. Edits the content which is in published state.

    2. Updates the Workspace ID, Taskgroup ID and Task ID fields of the content with the new values.

    3. Saves the changes and restarts the workflow for the content. This brings the content back to draft stage for rework. For instructions on creating content, see Creating new content Creating content items in the WebSphere Portal Information Center.

    4. (Optional) Previews the content in Web Content Management to ensure that the content is correct and is displayed correctly. To preview the content in Web Content Management, view the new content using the Web Content Management servlet. For instructions on viewing content using the Web Content Management servlet, see the Displaying content via the Web Content Management servlet Displaying content via the IBM Web Content Management servlet in the WebSphere Portal Information Center.

  4. In WebSphere Commerce, the Content Contributor does the following tasks:

    1. Optional: Previews the store page that will display the edited Web Content Management content.

    2. Marks the workspace task as complete.

  5. In WebSphere Commerce, the Workspace Task Group Approver does the following tasks:

    1. Optional: Previews the store page that will display the edited Web Content Management content.

    2. Approves or rejects the task group.

  6. If the task group is approved, move the Web Content Management content to WebSphere Commerce. If the task group is rejected, the content on the Web Content Management system returns to the draft state to allow changes to the content. Content Contributors are sent an email notification informing them that revisions are required.

If the task group is cancelled, the Content Contributor has to restore the changes on the Web Content Management system. After restoring the changes, the content must be moved manually to the published stage on the Web Content Management System.
