Overview: Creating WebSphere Commerce content using Web Content Management

This topic provides a high level overview of the steps involved in creating WebSphere Commerce content using Web Content Management.Prerequisite:

Before you can create WebSphere Commerce content using Web Content Management, have completed the following prerequisite tasks:

When you have completed all of the prerequisite tasks, you can create WebSphere Commerce content using Web Content Management.

  1. In WebSphere Commerce, the Workspace Administrator does the following tasks:

    1. Create a workspace, task group, and tasks to contain this work.

    2. Activate the new task group.

    When you activate the task group, email notification is sent to the content contributors. The notification indicates which task they have to work on and workspace and task group details.

  2. In WebSphere Commerce, the content contributor does the following tasks:

    1. Select the new content task as the workspace task to work on.

    2. Optional: Create a new product or create a new catalog category with which you will associate the Web Content Management content.

  3. In IBM Workplace Web Content Management, the content contributor does the following tasks:

    1. Create the new content.

    2. Optional: Preview the content in Web Content Management to ensure that the content is correct and is displayed correctly.

      To preview the content in Web Content Management, view the new content using the Web Content Management servlet. For instructions on viewing content using the Web Content Management servlet, see the Displaying content via the Web Content Management servlet Displaying content via the IBM Web Content Management servlet topic in the WebSphere Portal Information Center.

  4. In WebSphere Commerce, the content contributor does the following tasks:

    1. Optional: Preview the store page that will display the new Web Content Management content.

    2. Mark the workspace task as complete.

  5. In WebSphere Commerce, the Workspace Task Group Approver does the following tasks:

    1. Optional: Preview the store page that will display the new Web Content Management content.

    2. Approve or reject the task group.

  6. If the task group is approved, move the Web Content Management content to WebSphere Commerce.

    If the task group is rejected, the content on the Web Content Management system returns to the draft state to allow changes to the content. Also, Content Contributors are sent an email notification informing them that revisions are required.
