Data collection infrastructure overview
Overview
The data collection infrastructure...
- Collects performance profiling data for distributed applications
- Sends the data to the workbench computer for analysis.
The DCI runs on the workbench computer and all remote computers.
The DCI is required to collect response time breakdown
Supported Platforms
The DCI has been tested on the following platforms:
- Workbenches
- Microsoft Windows XP Professional (service packs 2 and 3) on Intel IA32
- Microsoft Windows Server 2003 Standard Edition (service packs 2 and 3) on Intel IA32
- Microsoft Windows Server 2003 Enterprise Edition (service packs 2 and 3) on Intel IA32
- Remote computers (agents)
- Microsoft Windows XP Professional (service packs 2 and 3) on Intel IA32
- Microsoft Windows Server 2003 Standard Edition (service packs 2 and 3) on Intel IA32
- Microsoft Windows Server 2003 Enterprise Edition (service packs 2 and 3) on Intel IA32
- AIX 5.x
- WebSphere Application Server, 32-bit only
- Microsoft Windows 2003 Standard Edition (service packs 2 and 3) on Intel IA32
- Microsoft Windows 2003 Enterprise Edition (service packs 2 and 3) on Intel IA32
- Windows Vista Business (service pack 1) on Intel IA32.
- AIX 5.x
Linux systems
For Linux systems, the Test and Performance Tools Platform (TPTP) Data Collection Engine feature of DCI is compiled using the shared library...
/usr/lib/libstdc++-libc6.2-2.so.3
If this shared library does not exist, install the RPM package compat-libstdc++ that comes with the operating system installation media.
Supported Monitoring tools
Data collection is supported on the following monitoring tools for all supported platforms:
- IBM Tivoli Monitoring for Transaction Performance, V5.3 fix pack 1 (5.3.0.1).
- IBM Tivoli Composite Application Manager for Response Time Tracking, V6.0 and 6.1.
- IBM Tivoli Composite Application Manager for WebSphere, V6.0 and 6.1.
To collect past performance data, query the management server databases.
Supported Application Servers
Data collection is supported on the following appservers...
- IBM WAS, V6.1 and V6.0
- IBM WAS, V5.0 (all releases)
- Embedded IBM WAS, V6.0
- WebLogic Application Server, V8.1
To profile Web services, use one of the following versions of WAS Base edition:
- WAS Base V6.1 (Fix Pack 11 or later)
- WAS Base V6.0
- WAS Base V5.1.1.1 and later service levels (no patch is required starting at WAS 5.1.1.1)
- WAS Base V5.1.1.0 with patch PQ91494_Fix.jar
- WAS Base V5.1.0.5 with patch PQ89492_5105_Fix.jar; service levels 5.1.0.0 and later with patch PQ89492_510x_Fix.jar
- WAS Base V5.0.2.7 with patch PQ89492_5027_Fix.jar; service levels 5.0.2.0 and later with patch PQ89492_502x_Fix.jar
