Changing the parent category of a catalog entry
You can change the parent category of a catalog entry in the master catalog to a new category. For example, you can create a new category that better defines the catalog entry.
Procedure
- Open the Catalogs tool.
- From the explorer filter, click Master Catalog.
- Change a parent category of a catalog entry by performing one of the following actions:
Option Description To move a catalog entry in the master catalog
- Click the category that contains the catalog entry to move. The catalog entries of the category are displayed in the list view.
- From the list view, drag the catalog entry to the new category in the explorer tree.
To assign a new parent category to the catalog entry
- Click the category that contains the catalog entry to move. The catalog entries of the category are displayed in the list view.
- On the list view, right-click the catalog entry; then click Open. The catalog entry properties view displays.
- Click the Manage Product, Manage Kit, Manage Bundle or Manage Category SKUs tab. The Manage Category SKUs tab is only visible in non-available to promise (non-ATP) stores.
- Go to the Parent Category section under General Product Information.
- To delete the parent category, right-click the category; then click Delete, or click the category; then click Delete . You can also delete an existing category by replacing it with a new one. Browse for the new parent category in the Show Utilities View and drag it onto the Parent table. You can also drag categories from the explorer view.
- To add a new parent category click Show Utilities View . Browse for the new parent category and drag it onto the Parent table. Alternatively, you can click New and double-click the new parent field on the table. The New Category view displays where you can create the new category for the catalog entry. You can also drag categories from the explorer view.
- Click Save and Close, or click Close.
