Find and associating assets

You can find and associate assets such as files, URLs or existing attachments to categories, sales catalogs, and catalog entries, all within the Catalogs tool. This enables you to complete activities without switching tools.


Procedure

  1. Open the Catalogs tool.

  2. From the explorer view, navigate to the sales catalog, category or catalog entry to associate an asset to. Alternately, you can find the category, or catalog entry .

  3. Open the business object (sales catalog, category or catalog entry); then click the Associated Assets tab. The associated assets table displays.

  4. Associate a file, attachment or URL:

    To associate a file or attachment:

    1. Open the utilities view by clicking ; then click the Find tab.

    2. From the search filter, select Attachments or Files.

    3. Search or browse for the attachment or search or browse for the file. See Find objects

    4. Drag or copy the file or attachment from the find list to the Associated Assets table in the properties view. A new row is appended to the table with the Path and Name columns.

    5. Click the empty columns or double-click to go to the attachment properties view, to add additional attachment information.

    Option Description
    Sequence The order in which the object is displayed. Numbers are displayed in ascending order.
    Type Asset icon is displayed. This field is read-only.
    Store If workspaces are enabled, or in an extended sites model; the store the asset belongs to.
    Path One of the following options are displayed:

    • The path of the file or URL is displayed if the file or URL is directly associated with the business object, or if there is only one file or URL in the attachment.

    • More than one asset is displayed if the business object associates an existing attachment with the business object, and if there are multiple files or URLs in the attachment.

    • No assets is displayed if there are no files or URLs in the attachment.

    Code The language independent identifier.
    Name The name of the asset.
    Usage The usage for the attachment.
    Description A description of the attachment relation.

    To associate an URL:

    1. In the Associated Assets table, click . A new row is appended to the table.

    2. Add the following information to the new row:

    Option Description
    Sequence The order in which the object is displayed. Numbers are displayed in ascending order.
    Type Asset icon is displayed. This field is read-only.
    Store If workspaces are enabled, or in an extended sites model; the store the asset belongs to.
    Path The path of the URL.
    Code The language independent identifier.
    Name The name of the asset.
    Usage The usage for the asset.
    Description A description of the asset relation.

  5. Click Save and Close, or click Close.
