Using the Add a Portlet dialog, you can insert portlets and portlet definitions (that you may have imported with your portal configuration), or add Web Services for Remote Portlets to any portal page.

These instructions assume that you have either imported or created portlets in your current workspace. For information on creating portlets, refer to Creating portlets.

To insert a portlet:

  1. In Portal Designer, right-click on a column within a portal page. From the context menu, choose

    Insert Portlet | As Child

This activates the Insert Portlet dialog box.

  2. From the dialog box, choose a portlet; then click OK.

Portlets are always part of a portlet project, but are not necessarily part of a portal configuration. All portlets that are associated with the workspace will appear in the Insert Portlet dialog box.

    Column Description
    1. Portlets all portlets in this workspace
    2. Location name of the portal or portlet project that corresponds to the portlet in column 1.
    3. WSRP Remote Portlets the producer name of the portlets

If you choose to insert a portlet from a project other than the one you are editing, that portlet's definition will be included in this portal project.

After you have added portlets to your portal pages, you can explore any of these design options:
