Federating the empty node into the dmgr cell
When you federate the empty node into the dmgr cell, you associate the empty node with the dmgr so that you can use the dmgr to administer the node.
You cannot use the empty node for processing work until you federate it into the dmgr cell, where it becomes a managed node.
- Create, and then augment, the empty managed node.
- Create the DB2 database objects by using the createDB2.sh script, or other available tools.
- Start the dmgr.
Procedure
- Locate the customization instructions that were generated for the node, and go to the step that describes how to federate the node. The instructions include the following steps:
- On the system where your node is configured, submit the BBOWMNAN job to federate the node into the specified ND cell. Check that the job completes with a return code of 0, and also review the job output.
- If you chose not to start the node agent automatically when you used the WebSphere Customization Toolbox application to configure the empty managed node, start the node agent manually.
- Back up the configuration file system data sets for the dmgr and for any managed nodes.
Results
The empty node is now federated into the dmgr cell and you can administer the node by using the dmgr in the administrative console.
What to do next
You can now use the administrative console to create a deployment environment.
