Editing a shape object's lines
You can edit a shape object's lines separately from its fill color. You can specify elements such as the line thickness and style.
To edit a shape object's lines:
- Select the shape object that you would like to edit on the canvas or Object Stack.
- Select Edit > Edit Object.
- In the Edit Shape Object dialog, specify the appearance of the lines that surround the shape object from the Line drop-down menus. You can specify the following:
- Width - Specifies the line thickness. To specify the line width you want, select Optional and enter a value for the width in the field next to the drop-down menu.
- Type - Specifies the line type or style. For example, you could select dotted or solid line types.
- Joint shape - Specifies the shape of a joint between two lines making up a zigzag line or polygon.
- End shape - Specifies the shape of the start point and end point of an open-ended line such as a straight line, zigzag line, and curved line.
- Specify whether you would like an arrow to mark the start and end points of your shape. If you do not want this option, select None from both drop-down menus. From the Start Point: Shape drop-down menu, select the arrow shape that you would like to mark the start point of your shape. From the End Point: Shape drop-down menu, select the arrow shape that you would like to mark the end point. Use the controls beside them to adjust the size of the arrows.
- Choose one of the following:
- Both - Specifies that the shape contains both an outline and a fill color.
- Outline only - Specifies that the shape contains an outline, but no fill color.
- Fill only - Specifies that the shape contains fill color, but no outline.
- Ensure that the Antialias check box is selected. This option eliminates jagged edges on the shape.
- You can change the color, texture, and gradation on the Color tab.
- When you are finished editing your shape object's lines, close the dialog.
