Step 4: Configure and start the Network Deployment domain

This topic describes how to configure your iSeries server and the Network Deployment environment so that Network Deployment runs correctly.

To create an initial configuration for WAS Network Deployment for iSeries, perform these steps:

  1. Start Deployment Manager
    This topic describes how to start the Deployment Manager (Network Deployment environment). The Deployment Manager must be started before you can add a node to the Deployment Manager's domain.

  2. Add a node to the network deployment instance
    This topic describes how to add the node (WAS instance) to the Deployment Manager's domain.

  3. Start the administrative console for the Deployment Manager
    This topic describes how to start the administrative console for the Deployment Manager.

  4. Configure a virtual host
    This topic describes how to configure a virtual host for the domain. If your Web Server instance is using the default Web Server port, 80, you can skip this step.

  5. Start the HTTP Server instance
    This topic describes how to start your HTTP server instance.

  6. Start the application server
    This topic describes how to use the administrative console for the Deployment Manager to start the application server for the node.
