Sample application
Use the sample application as a learning tool or to demonstrate dashboard-specific features.
IBM® WebSphere® Dashboard Framework includes a comprehensive sample application that illustrates key features and best practices. This sample application is a great learning tool for developers new to the product. If you are a new user, you should start by taking the WebSphere Dashboard Framework introductory tutorials. Then, set up the sample application to explore how builders can be combined to create different types of portlets.
The sample application consists of four pages (Home, Sales, Customers, and Human Resources), with two or more portlets on each page. To run, these portlets require a JDBC database. For your convenience, a Cloudscape database is included with the sample application, as well as SQL scripts that can be executed to set up the appropriate tables and sample data. Further, xmlaccess scripts are provided, which can be run to set up the portal pages, arrange the portlets on the pages, create the users and groups, and assign access to these users and groups.
- Logging on to the sample application
After you set up the sample application, we can log on to WebSphere Portal to explore the sample application from different points of view.
