The Site Framework
Overview
In traditional web sites, the Site Framework is an artificial concept based on the links between the pages of a site. In an IWWCM solution, the Site Framework is defined first, and the links between the pages are generated automatically by using Menu and Navigator Components. The different sections of a web site are grouped under Site Areas.
IWWCM Technology is used to create and manage a Site Framework within which Content items are grouped.
The Site Framework is the "site map" of the web site. Many Site Areas comprise the Site Framework.
Each Content item in a web site is assigned to at least one Site Area, which determines its location within the Site Framework.
Once the Site Framework has been set up, Site Areas can be added when needed, deleted or edited.
The Site Framework also determines the links between pages that are displayed in Navigators.
The relationships between Authoring Templates (and therefore Content) and Presentation Templates are built in Sites and Site Areas.
Components specific to a particular Site Area are also stored in Site Areas.
