Add Components to a Site Area

Site Area specific Components can be stored in Site Areas. E.g., A site may use a different logo for each Site Area. Each logo would be saved as an Image Component within a Site Area. The logo could then be referenced in Presentation Templates and would change depending on the current Site Area.

The Component Manager

The Component Manager is used within Site Items, Site Areas, Authoring Templates, Content Items and some Components to manage the Components stored within those items. It is accessed by clicking the Component Manager button.

The Component Manager can be used to Add, Remove, Edit and Re-order Components belonging to an item. See The Component Manager in the Item Tools chapter for more details on how to use the Component Manager.

Labeling Components

The names of Component labels in different Site Areas must be the same if a Component reference in a Presentation Template is to change depending on what the current Site Area is. The Component types however, do not have to be consistent.

Example:

For a Component Reference called Heading from Current Site Area:

Site Area Component Label Component Type
Business Heading Image
Personal Heading Rich Text
Features Heading Text
News Heading Text
