Manage the partitioning facility environment
About this taskThis section describes the management capabilities of the partitioning facility (WPF) framework. The section will assume the user has some experience with the WPF example scenario described previously. This section begins with a highly available (HA) manager overview, provides general guidelines, then moves to a more detailed explanation of the individual management functions.
- HA manager and partitioning facility
- Relation of a partition to an HA group
- General cluster and WPF management considerations
- Management script wpfadmin and usage
- Performance monitoring
Performance monitoring is an activity in which you collect and analyze data about the performance of the applications and their environment. The product collects data on run-time and applications through the performance monitoring infrastructure (PMI). This infrastructure is compatible with and extends the JSR-077 specification.
- Scalability related configuration
This section shows configuration properties that you can change to handle the application which allocate 5,000 to 30,000 partitions. In general, you should keep the number of actual partitions to a minimum to ensure the cluster performance is not degraded. In addition, each attribute column has a footnote explaining how the attribute can be set.
