Prepare additional cluster members on Windows
After installing and configuring the primary node, we can create the additional cluster nodes. Install IBM WebSphere Portal on each node and then configure the node to access the database and user registry before adding it to the cluster.
- Prerequisites
- Prepare the Windows operating system in a clustered environment
- Prepare the primary node on Windows
- Create and augment a new dmgr profile on Windows
Complete the following tasks to prepare the additional cluster node:
- Install WebSphere Portal on Windows for the horizontal cluster nodes
Install IBM WebSphere Portal on the additional cluster nodes to create a highly available and scalable environment. On additional nodes, you only need to install the WebSphere Portal product binary files. The WebSphere Portal application server and applications are added after the node is federated and a new cluster member is created.- Choose the type of horizontal cluster to create on Windows
If you created a static cluster using the IBM WAS Network Deployment, add additional static nodes to the clusterIf you created a dynamic cluster using IBM WebSphere Virtual Enterprise, add additional dynamic nodes to the cluster.- Choose the type of vertical cluster to create on Windows
If we are using the IBM WAS Network Deployment, we can add vertical cluster members to the static cluster. For IBM WebSphere Virtual Enterprise, we can add vertical cluster members to the dynamic cluster.
