Prepare the primary node on Windows

Before creating your clustered environment, install IBM WebSphere Portal on the primary node and then configure the database and the network dmgr.

Complete the following tasks to prepare your primary node:

  1. Install WebSphere Portal on Windows on the primary node
IBM WebSphere Portal is installed as a single component, complete with an integrated database for storing information. After installation, we can expand the environment to include high availability failover, a more robust database, and LDAP-based authentication.
  2. Clustered environment: Perform post-installation tasks on Windows
Depending on your business needs, there are additional tasks that we can run post-installation to configure the clustered environment.
  3. Windows clustered server: Configure the portal to use a database
  4. Remove search collections on Windows
To use search in a cluster, configure a remote search server; If you created any search collections, re-create them on the remote search server. If the search collection has data, export the collection before deleting it and then import the data on the remote server.
  5. Create the WebSphere Portal profile template on Windows in a clustered environment
After installing the primary node and configuring the remote database, we can create the configuration archive (CAR) file used to create additional portal profiles.
