Portal Express, Version 6.0
Operating systems: i5/OS, Linux, Windows
Advanced installation options
In addition to supporting typical installation scenarios, the installation program also provides advanced installation options to address special situations that might arise in your environment. This section describes the advanced installation options that are available.
- Changing the default profile
When running the installation, you can pass parameters from the command line that allow you to make the WebSphere Portal Express profile either default or non-default.- Installing an empty portal
In some situations you might want to install an empty portal, where WebSphere Portal Express is installed normally but no portlets are installed or deployed and no pages are created. This can be useful if you want to transfer an entire configuration from one portal to another. For example, you might want to transfer from your test environment to a production environment. You can also install Document Manager and Web Content Management on an empty portal.- Installing as a non-root user
You can install and run IBM WebSphere Portal Express as a non-root user.- Configuring the WebSphere Portal Express ports
Port management is important when installing WebSphere Portal Express. There are different ways to avoid port conflicts between other applications running on the same machine. The WebSphere Portal Express installer needs two port blocks of 25 ports or more, one for WebSphere Application Server and one for WebSphere Portal Express.
