Overview

An empty portal contains no...

Empty portals are used when you want to transfer an entire configuration from one portal to another. For example, from a test environment to a production environment.

You can install Document Manager and Web Content Management on an empty portal.

If you already have a non-empty portal installed, you can empty out a portal by running...

WPSconfig action-empty-portal

Install

To install an empty portal...

  1. Execute...

    cd /Quick_Start_Setup_CD/PortalExpress
    ./install.sh|bat -W emptyPortal.active="True"

For i5/OS you can copy CD-ROM contents to the server, and then run install.sh from the strqsh commandline.

  2. Proceed through the installation program panels as normal.

When the installation program is finished, the portal is ready for importing the new configuration.

After installing an empty portal, expect messages indicating that no content can be displayed or that some components are not yet configured. Adding content into the portal will prevent these messages from rendering.

  3. Install Web Content Management...

    WPSconfig portlets-admin
    WPSconfig configure-wcm-authoring
    WPSconfig configure-wcm task

  4. Install Document Manager

    WPSconfig configure-pdm
    WPSconfig pdm-portlet
