Edit a folder

Edit folder properties.

You can update the name for a folder and, if your administrator has configured the send a link feature, select other users to receive an e-mail link to the folder. For more information about sending a link, see Sending a link to a folder or view.

To edit the properties of a folder...

  1. Navigate to the folder that you want to edit.

  2. Click Folder Actions and select Edit Folder Properties from the drop-down menu, or click the Edit Folder Properties button.

  3. You can change the folder name, which must be unique. Folder names can include non-Latin characters (such as Japanese and Cyrillic). However, some characters are invalid, such as asterisks (*), question marks (?), greater than and less than signs (< >), percent signs (%), apostrophes ('), double quotes ("), at signs (@), forward and backward slashes (/ \), pipes (|), square brackets ([ ]), curly brackets ({ }), or colons (:). Folder names can contain spaces.

  4. Click Save to save the changes, or Cancel to exit and discard any changes you made.
You can rename folders that contain private or submitted drafts. However, if the Document Library administrator has locked the folder structure in a library, editing folders in the library is not allowed.
