Edit a folder
Edit folder properties.
You can update the name for a folder and, if your administrator has configured the send a link feature, select other users to receive an e-mail link to the folder. For more information about sending a link, see Sending a link to a folder or view.
To edit the properties of a folder...
You can rename folders that contain private or submitted drafts. However, if the Document Library administrator has locked the folder structure in a library, editing folders in the library is not allowed.
- Navigate to the folder that you want to edit.
- Click Folder Actions and select Edit Folder Properties from the drop-down menu, or click the Edit Folder Properties button.
- You can change the folder name, which must be unique. Folder names can include non-Latin characters (such as Japanese and Cyrillic). However, some characters are invalid, such as asterisks (*), question marks (?), greater than and less than signs (< >), percent signs (%), apostrophes ('), double quotes ("), at signs (@), forward and backward slashes (/ \), pipes (|), square brackets ([ ]), curly brackets ({ }), or colons (:). Folder names can contain spaces.
- Click Save to save the changes, or Cancel to exit and discard any changes you made.
