Creating marketing content for text (SMS) messages

Create the content of a text (SMS) message so that you can include it in a Dialog activity that uses the Send Message action to send a text message to a customer.


Procedure

  1. Open the Marketing tool.

  2. From the explorer view, click Content. The Content - List page opens.

  3. From the toolbar, click the arrow on the right side of New; then select Content. The New Content page displays.

  4. Enter the properties of the content...

    Option Description
    Name Enter a name to identify the text message. You must specify this name when creating the Dialog activity to send the message.
    Content type Select Text message for mobile device.
    Text Enter the text message.

    The standard maximum length of a single text (SMS) message using the Latin alphabet is 160 characters including spaces and punctuation. If the message is longer, the message will be either truncated or sent as multiple messages. The outcome depends on the SMS gateway service and how the site is configured for SMS messaging. Talk to the Site Administrator for more information.

  5. Click Save to save the content, or click Save and Close to close the Content editor. The Content - List page displays the updated content.


What to do next

Create a Dialog activity that includes the Send Message action for sending text messages to a customer. When completing the properties for the Send Message action, specify the text message content you created in this task.
