Moving categories

You can move a child category to a new parent category in the master catalog for example, if you are getting rid of a category or find that the child category is better defined under a new parent.

Procedure

  1. Open the Catalogs tool.

  2. From the explorer filter, click Master Catalog.

  3. Select the parent category on the explorer tree.

  4. Execute one of the following steps:

    • Right-click the parent category; then click Show Subcategories. Drag a child category from the list view to the new category on the explorer tree. The child category is reassigned to the parent category.

    • Right-click the parent category; then click Open. Click General Category Information and scroll to the Parent section.

To add a new parent click the Show Utilities View icon . Browse for the new parent and drag it to the Parent table. Alternatively, you can click the New icon and double-click the new parent field on the table. The New Category view displays where you can create the new category.

    • Select a category from the explorer view and drag it to the Parent table.

  5. Click Save and Close, or click Close.
