Install feature packs on the toolkit using the IBM Installation Manager

In the development environment, you can install feature packs using the IBM Installation Manager. Use the Update wizard to install fix packs.

You can install WebSphere Commerce Developer, fix packs, and feature packs simultaneously on a clean machine by adding all repositories to the IBM Installation Manager and then installing WebSphere Commerce Developer with the fix pack and feature pack.


Before you begin


Procedure

  1. Open Installation Manager.

  2. Add the WebSphere Commerce Developer feature pack repository location to the Installation Manager:

    1. On the Start page of Installation Manager, click File > Preferences, and then click Repositories. The Repositories page opens, showing any available repositories, their locations, and whether they are connected.

    2. On the Repositories page, click Add Repository.

    3. In the Add Repository dialog box, click Browse. Navigate to the location of the WebSphere Commerce Developer feature pack directory and select the repository.config file, and then click OK. The new repository location is listed.

    4. Click Test Connections to ensure that the Repository URL is available.

  3. Execute one of the following actions:

    • When installing a feature pack for the first time, from the Start page, click Install.

    • If you already have a lower feature pack version installed and are upgrading to a higher version, click Update.

    The Installation Manager searches its defined repositories for available packages.

  4. Execute one of the following actions:

    • When installing a feature pack for the first time, on the Install Packages page, accept the license agreement and click Next.

    • If you already have a lower feature pack version installed and are upgrading to a higher version, on the Update Packages page, click Next.

  5. The Installation Manager detects all of the applicable features. Recommended features are automatically selected. Select the updates to apply and click Next.

  6. If you already have a lower feature pack version installed and are upgrading to a higher version, accept the license agreement and click Next.

  7. The feature pack will be automatically preselected. Click Next.

  8. Feature Pack 1 Review the summary information and click Install to install the updates.

  9. Feature Pack 2 Execute one of the following actions:

    • When installing a feature pack for the first time, on the configuration enablement features panel, you can choose what ifeature to enable and click Install to install the updates.

    • If you already have a lower feature pack version installed and are upgrading to a higher version, on the configuration enablement features panel, you can choose what ifeature to enable and then Click Update to install the updates.

      • If you choose ALL, which is the default option, the following will be enabled after the update completes:

        • foundation

        • management-center

        • store-enhancements

        • content-version

      • If you choose None, no Feature Pack 2 ifeatures will be enabled.

    If you enable any ifeature during installation, republish the application:

    1. Open WebSphere Commerce Developer and switch to the Enterprise Explorer view.

    2. Start the WebSphere Commerce Test Server. Some errors are displayed in the console; these errors can be safely ignored.

    3. In the Servers view, right-click the test server then click Publish.

    4. Wait for the application to finish publishing and to restart. Ensure that no errors are displayed.

  10. Execute one of the following actions:

    • Feature Pack 1 When installing a feature pack for the first time, select which features to enable, then click Finish.

    • If you already have a lower feature pack version installed and are upgrading to a higher version, click Finish.

  11. Optional: Review the installation history by selecting File > Installation History

  12. To test whether the toolkit installed successfully, launch the Management Center or any store by clicking the URLs in Useful links in WebSphere Commerce Developer
