Install WebSphere Commerce Developer fix packs with the IBM Installation Manager
You can install WebSphere Commerce Developer fix packs using the IBM Installation Manager that you used to install WebSphere Commerce Developer. WebSphere Commerce fix packs should be installed and then tested. Fix packs contain fixes that correct known problems and hence might prevent a service call from being placed. Before installing a WebSphere Commerce fix pack, review this information.
Before you begin
Attention: Do not upgrade to Installation Manager 1.4 when installing Fix Pack 1. Installation Manager 1.4 is not supported. For additional information on this issue, see the IBM Support Flash.
- Install Rational Application Developer v7.5.5.1.
- Ensure the machine on which you are installing meets all WebSphere Commerce v7 software requirements.
- Stop any applications running on the machine.
- Disable any Web server that you have configured on the machine.
- Log into Windows as a user with Administrator privileges.
- Ensure the WebSphere Commerce Developer fix pack is downloaded and if necessary, unpackaged on the machine. For each 7.0.0.x fix pack release there will be 3 different fix pack drivers for Websphere Commerce Developer:
- A fix pack for Websphere Commerce Developer Enterprise. For example, 7.0.0-WS-WCDeveloperEnterprise-FP001.zip
- A fix pack for Websphere Commerce Developer Professional. For example, 7.0.0-WS-WCDeveloperProfessional-FP001.zip
- A fix pack for Websphere Commerce Developer - Express. For example, 7.0.0-WS-WCDeveloperExpress-FP001.zip
- If you have customized any of the files listed in the wc700x_files_changed.txt file, first backup the customized files because the fix pack installation creates new version of the files.
- Due to the customizable nature of the Build and Deployment tool, additional steps are required after fix pack installation to incorporate the fixes into the configuration files and customization. It is important to review the steps prior to beginning the fix pack installation. Please review Update the WebSphere Commerce Build and Deployment tool after installing a WebSphere Commerce fix pack.
You can install WebSphere Commerce Developer, fix packs, and feature packs simultaneously on a machine where Websphere Commerce has not been previously installed, by adding all repositories to the IBM Installation Manager and then Install WebSphere Commerce Developer.
- Ensure that WebSphere Commerce and WebSphere Commerce Developer are at the same fix pack level.
- The database updates included in this fix pack cannot be undone. To undo the database update after applying the WebSphere Commerce fix pack, restore the database backup. For information about backing up the database, see the database documentation .
Procedure
- This fix pack updates many files. In the Fix Packs for WebSphere Commerce products technote, click the link to the fix pack you are installing. See the Files Changed link on the fix pack install technote. This file lists all the files altered by the fix pack, including the JSP files for starter stores. If you have made any custom modifications to any of the files listed in the Files Changed document, back them up before applying the fix pack. After the fix pack is applied re-implement the customization against the updated files. For example the fix pack updates the starter store archive files which are used only at store publish time. If you have a published store, review the Files Changed list to see if any of the file changes are relevant to the store you have published.
- Open Installation Manager.
- Add the WebSphere Commerce Developer fix pack repository location to the Installation Manager:
- On the Start page of Installation Manager, click File > Preferences, and then click Repositories. The Repositories page opens, showing any available repositories, their locations, and whether they are connected.
- On the Repositories page, click Add Repository.
- In the Add Repository dialog box, click Browse. Navigate to the location of the WebSphere Commerce Developer fix pack directory and select the repository.config file, and then click OK. The new repository location is listed.
- Click Test Connections to ensure that the Repository URL is available.
- From the Start page, click Update. The Installation Manager searches its defined repositories for available packages.
- Select the WebSphere Commerce Developer package and click Next.
- The Update packages wizard detects all of the applicable fixes. Recommended features are automatically selected. Select the updates to apply and click Next.
- The fix pack will be automatically preselected. Click Next.
- Complete the license agreement and click Next.
- The Select the features to install panel is displayed. The feature is automatically selected. Click Next.
- Review the summary information and click Update to install the updates.
- Optional: Review the installation history by selecting File > Installation History
