Enable features

Overview

After installing a WebSphere Commerce feature pack, you can enable any of the included features to enhance the WCS instance.

To enable the features included in the WebSphere Commerce feature pack, have a WCS instance created.

In a staging environment, run stagingprop before enabling features.

In a staging environment, for both the staging and production machines, the WebSphere Commerce application and the WebSphere Commerce database must be at the same feature pack level.

Before enabling, back up the database or restore the database.

• Back up the DB2 Version 9.5 database or Restore the DB2 Version 9.5 database.
• Back up the DB2 Version 9.7 database or Restore the DB2 Version 9.7 database.

For all other databases, see the database vendor's user manual for information about backup and restore procedures.

Ensure you have all changes checked into software configuration management (SCM).

Procedure

Enable one or more features:

• 
  • Foundation
  • Management Center
  • Starter store enhancements

• 
  • Foundation
  • Management Center
  • Content Versioning
  • Starter store enhancements
  • Social Commerce
  • Sterling Selling and Fulfillment Suite

• If you encounter an error that says Unhandled exception, Type=Segmentation error while running installing fix pack, you might need to install one of the following:
  • DB2 V9.5 Fix pack 6a, or higher
  • DB2 V9.7 Fix pack 3a, or higher

• Any features enabled prior to running the setdbtype command must be re-enabled.

If you enable a high-level feature, lower-level features will be enabled automatically. The following table shows the dependencies between the features.
