Web activities support new display options for store pages
When creating a Web activity to display marketing information in an e-Marketing Spot, you can now display promotion recommendations or a list of recently viewed items, in addition to the existing options.
These two new options offer alternative ways to use the e-Marketing Spots on the store pages to drive sales:
- Recommend Promotion action
- Use this option in a Web activity to display marketing content related to a promotion in an e-Marketing Spot, typically an advertisement for the promotion. The advantage of the Recommend Promotion action over the existing Recommend Content action is that it associates the promotion to the content's click action so that you do not have to manually code the click action URL.
- Display Recently Viewed action
- Use this option in a Web activity to display a list of the catalog entries or categories that the customer recently viewed. This provides customers with a list of links they can click to revisit items of interest. You can choose how many catalog entries or categories to include in the list.
Perhaps the site uses a tool that is external to WebSphere Commerce to determine relevant product recommendations for customers. If so, Management Center now provides a customizable action element called Display Recommendation From External System. When the customization is in place, you can add this action to Web activities to display the recommendations from the external recommendation system in an e-Marketing Spot just as you would use the other actions, such as Recommend Catalog Entry.
