Objective

The B2B direct extended sites solution is targeted for a selling organization that needs to provide unique storefronts for different enterprise customers, or showcase a number of branded storefronts.

Description

Creation and management of the B2B direct extended sites is done via the B2B direct hub (known in WebSphere Commerce as a hub store). This hub provides tools that allow the seller to create and administer a store, as well as tools that allow the extended sites hub administrator to manage all stores. These stores may share much of the data, such as master catalog and list prices, presentation information, and even some campaigns data.

An extended site may be created to provide purchasing capability for a group of customers in a territory, or even for an individual enterprise customer if that customer requires extensive storefront customization. Products, pricing, and marketing campaigns could be shared among extended sites, or could be specific to an individual extended site, whether that site is targeted to an individual enterprise customer, or to a group of customers in a given territory.

Shoppers or business buyers can access those storefronts where they register at or have access to. Thus for example, access to an extended site targeted to an enterprise customer would be restricted to members of the customer organization. On the other hand, access to an extended site targeted to all customers in a geography would be unrestricted.

Customer organizations that register on an extended site may have administrators that manage their own user hierarchy, as well as dealing with user and order approvals for employees belonging to his organization.

NOTE: This solution shares some admin processes from the Hosting business model.
