Troubleshoot: The updatedb script fails during the application of the fix pack

When applying the fix pack to your WebSphere Commerce instance, the updatedb task fails.

 

Problem

The updatedb process fails during fix pack update.

 

Solution

Complete the following steps:

  1. Review the log files in the following locations:

    • I5/OS: WC_userdir/instances/instance/logs/trace.txt

    • I5/OS: WC_userdir/instances/instance/logs/messages.txt

    • AIX|Linux|Solaris|Windows:

      WC_installdir/instances/instance/logs/trace.txt

    • AIX|Linux|Solaris|Windows:

      WC_installdir/instances/instance/logs/messages.txt

    Review these log files with your database administrator to ensure there are no data errors.

  2. Navigate to the WC_installdir/bin directory.

  3. Perform one of the following steps:

    AIX|Linux|Solaris|Run the command using the WebSphere Commerce non-root user.

    • Run the updatedb command again. Refer to Install final steps for more information.

    • Restore the original database and run the updatedb command. Refer to Install final steps for more information.

  4. If this problem cannot be resolved, contact IBM WebSphere Commerce Support.
