Troubleshoot: Error encountered when applying the fix pack with the Configuration Manager server or Help server running
While installing a WebSphere Commerce fix pack, certain files are not updated and the installation fails.
Problem
You encounter the following error message while installing the fix pack, a WebSphere Commerce process is runningUpdate installation unsuccessful: The file file_name could not be updated. Ensure the current user account has write permission for this file and all files in the product installation location.Where:
- If the file_name refers to the Utilities.jar file, your Configuration Manager server is running.
- If the file_name refers to the WCHelpService.exe, your WebSphere Commerce Help server is started.
Solution
If you receive one or both messages, complete the following steps:
- Ensure the following servers are stopped:
- Configuration Manager
- WebSphere Commerce Help
- Uninstall the fix pack from the system.
- Reapply the fix pack.
