Joining and splitting cells
You can join and split cells in the tables of your Web pages.
- To split a single cell into multiple cells:
- Move the cursor into the cell you want to split.
- To split the cell into rows, select
Table | Split Cell | Split Cell into Rows. To split the cell into columns, select
Table | Split Cell | Split Cell into Columns.
- To split a single cell into three or more cells at a time, select
Table | Specify and Split, and then specify the number and the direction of the split.
- To join table cells:
- Select the cell range (either vertical or horizontal) that you would like to join.
- Select
Table | Join Selected Cells.
You can also join cells by selected a single cell and using one of the options in the
Table | Join Cell menu.
- To return joined cells to their original state:
Note: When you resplit the cells, the contents of the cells will not return to their original cell location.
- Select the joined cells.
- Select either
Table | Split Cell | Split Cell into Rows or
Table | Split Cell | Split Cell into Columns, depending on how the cells were originally joined.
- For more complex cell splitting, you can select
Table | Specify and Split and define the cell splitting more precisely.
