Editing table properties
After creating a table in a Web page, you can change table properties, such as alignment, width, height, cell padding, border style, color, and others.
To change these attributes:
- Move the cursor into a cell.
- In the Properties view, click the Table tab.
- Use the
Alignment drop-down list to select the table's alignment on the page.
- If text is flowing around the table, select the location of the table in the text flow in the
Text flow drop-down list. For example, if you select
Left, the table will be positioned to the left of the text..
- To assign the table a fixed width and height, specify Width and Height in pixels. Type a pixel value (300, for example) in the field on the left, and select pixels from the list box to the right of the field.
- To change the table width and height to fit the screen size of a Web browser, specify Width and Height as a percentage. Type a percentage ratio from 1 through 100 (or more, if desired) in the field on the left, and select % from the drop-down list to the right of the field.
- To hide table borders, delete the value in the
Border field. The table border appears as a dotted line in the Design page, although it will not be displayed in a Web browser.
- To change the spacing outside the cells, specify the size of the white space around each cell in
Spacing.
- To change the cell padding, specify the size of the white space between borders and content in
Padding.
- To add wallpaper to the background of a table, click the Browse button next to the
Background Image field, and select an image file. You can also import a background image into the project.
- To add color to a table, click the Browse colors button. You have the following options:
- Select one of the predefined colors.
- Select Browse to open the Color dialog box. In addition to choosing from among the color options, you can create a color by clicking the
Define Custom Colors push button.
- Select
Color picker to select a color from anywhere on the screen.
- To add a caption to a table, in the
Caption field, select either Top or Bottom to identify where the caption should appear. When you return to editing the table, you can add the caption text.
