Configure servers, server clusters, and product components
Before you attempt to start the IBM BPM for z/OS instance and have it connect to its databases, you must make sure that all the required servers, server clusters, and IBM BPM for z/OS product components are configured.
The servers, server clusters, and product components can be configured in one of three ways:
- Some IBM BPM components can be configured at augmentation time. This is particularly the case for the components of a stand-alone server.
- For an ND cell, components can be configured by building and generating a deployment environment. When you set up a deployment environment, you build server clusters and configure the product components on them.
Deployment environments are not available for a stand-alone server.
- The IBM BPM components can be configured individually either by using the administrative console or administrative scripts.
Determine which IBM BPM components you require in your runtime environment. Then either configure a deployment environment (ND only) or use the administration application to configure those components that were not set up by augmentation.
- The Deployment Environment wizard versus configuring the components manually
There are two approaches to configuring servers, server clusters, and product components after augmentation is complete. You can use the Deployment Environment wizard to create clusters and servers, and deploy components across them according to a standard or a custom topology. Alternatively, you can configure each of the components individually, by using the administrative console, scripts, or wsadmin commands.- Set up deployment environments
Set up deployment environments involves creating the deployment environment definition and then generating the environment.- Configure product components manually from the administrative console
To configure product components manually, use the administrative console to create a cluster and to configure the IBM BPM components.
