Enabling IBM Case Manager solutions for use in Process Portal spaces

Each IBM Case Manager solution has associated in-baskets that hold the work items that are assigned to a specific user or role. To enable work items to appear in a Process Portal space, you need to define certain custom attributes for the associated in-baskets.

You have associated one or more role in-baskets with the solution that you want to use in a Process Portal space. Optionally, you have also associated a personal in-box with the solution.

Custom attributes are used in the in-basket queries used to construct the federated list of tasks and work items in the integrated inbox. Complete the following steps to add the required custom attributes to the associated role and personal in-baskets for the solution. In addition you can define indexes for sorting work items, and you can create the columns and labels used for the in-basket query.

Procedure

  1. Open the solution in IBM FileNet P8 Process Designer. Log into IBM FileNet P8 Workplace XT, and select Tools > Advanced Tools > Process Designer.
  2. Navigate to the case type associated with the solution. Click File > Solution > Edit. In the design object store, select IBM Case Manager > Solutions > solution_name > Solution Definition. Open the solution definition and then the case type.

  3. Click View > Configuration to open the solution configuration.
  4. Define the required custom attributes for the role in-basket and, optionally, the indexes for sorting, and the columns and labels for the in-basket query.

    1. In the Work Queues list, open the role queue for the role in-basket.

    2. Add the following custom attributes to the Custom Attributes page:

      OneBPMQuery

This attribute identifies the in-basket query. The value of the attribute must conform to the naming conventions for federating lists of tasks and work items.

      OneBPMSolution

This attribute is used to identify the solution in a Process Portal space. This is the value that was defined for the solution in IBM Case Manager Case Builder.

    3. Optional: On the Create Columns and Labels page, define the columns and labels used in the in-basket query to display work item properties in a Process Portal space.

    4. To allow business users to sort items according to specific properties, create an index for each of the corresponding attributes. On the Indexes page, create an index, then select an attribute and enter an index key.
  5. Define the required custom attributes for the personal in-basket and, optionally, the indexes for sorting, and the columns and labels for the in-basket query.

    1. In the User queues list, open the Inbox queue. The Inbox queue contains all the personal in-baskets that are defined for the solution.

      OneBPMPrefix

The value is the same as the solution prefix that you use in IBM Case Manager with an underscore added as a suffix.

For example, if the solution prefix is SOLPR, the value of the OneBPMPrefix custom attribute is SOLPR_.

  6. Save and close the solution.
