About finding WSDL documents for services
You can find the WSDL documents for a web service to call either on a public web site or in a public or private registry.
You can call any of these web services by using the related WSDL document to configure the Web Service Call builder.
The xmethods.com (or xmethods.org) site consistently updates the list of available services. The site provides all the information (including the WSDL document) needed to call the services listed on their site.
Most services published to the public Universal Description, Discovery and Integration (UDDI) protocol registries (for example, uddi.xml.org) have associated WSDL documents. Public UDDI registries are also hosted by IBM, Microsoft, and other companies. A private UDDI registry can be hosted within your own organization or within a partner organization.
The IBM® WebSphere Portlet Factory documentation assumes that a WSDL document exists for the web service. If you are calling a web service that is not described by a WSDL document, the described steps are similar if not the same. However, you need to know the inputs to the service so that you can configure the service call to pass the appropriate inputs.
