Overview

The high availability manager fails over the transactions and work of failed appservers within a core group. Core groups cannot extend beyond the boundaries of a cell and cannot overlap with other core groups. A cluster must be a member of only one core group. All cluster members must be members of that core group.

The default core group is DefaultCoreGroup and is generally sufficient for operation. Unless absolutely required, do not add core groups and do not change the default core group configuration.

Set up high availability environments

  1. Enable the HA manager.
  2. Create a new policy and associate it with an HA group.
  3. Set the policy associated with an HA group.
  4. Create a new core group.
  5. The servers that designated as preferred coordinators.
  6. The number of core group coordinators.
  7. Set discovery protocol
  8. Set failure detection protocol
  9. Configure replication settings
  10. Set a transport
  11. Specify a core group when you add a node.
  12. Specify a core group when creating an appserver.
  13. Set up a core group bridge.

To configure a resource adapter

The HA manager adds the resource adapter to an HA group and determines when that resource adapter is started.
