Copy an existing filter
If there exists a filter that is similar to a filter that we want to create, we can copy the existing filter and then edit it as required. We can copy any filter that you created previously and we can also copy the filters that are supplied with IBM MQ Explorer; for example, the Default for Queues filter. We cannot copy a filter for one type of object to use on another type of object; for example, we cannot copy a filter for channels to use for filtering queues.
To copy an existing filter:
Procedure
- Make sure that the type of object for which we are creating a filter is displayed in the Content view, then click the small arrow next to the current filter name. A menu is displayed.
- In the Select Filter dialog, click Manage Filters... The Manage Filters dialog opens displaying the filters that exist for the object type.
- In the Manage Filters dialog, click the filter that you want to copy, then click Copy As... The Copy Filter dialog opens.
- In the Copy Filter dialog, type a name for the new filter, then click OK.
- In the Manage Filters dialog, click Edit... The Edit Filter dialog opens.
- In the Edit Filter dialog, add, remove, or change the criteria that are set for the filter, then click OK. For more information about the fields in the dialog, see Create a filter.
- Click OK to close the Manage Filters dialog.
Results
The new filter is available to apply in the Select Filter dialog.
