Searching knowledge bases

If you have a problem with your IBM software, you want it resolved quickly. Begin by searching the available knowledge bases to determine whether the resolution to your problem is already documented:

  1. Search the information center on your local system or network.
  2. Search the Internet.

Search the information center on your local system or network

IBM provides extensive documentation that can be installed on your local machine or on an intranet server. You can use the powerful search function of the IBM Support Assistant in your Help menu to query conceptual information, instructions for completing tasks, reference information, and support documents.

Tip: Update your information center with the latest support information.

Search the Internet

If you cannot find an answer to your question in the information center, you can also search the Internet with the IBM Support Assistant for the latest, most complete information that might help you resolve your problem. To search multiple Internet resources for your product, expand the Help menu and select the IBM Support Assistant from the drop down menu. From here, you can search a variety of resources including:

  • IBM TechNotes
  • IBM Downloads
  • IBM Books and Articles
  • IBM developerWorks
  • IBM Newsgroups and Forums
  • Google
