Prerequisites and support for Integrator for SAP

Integrator for SAP works with the prerequisites and under the conditions and limitations listed in the following.

  1. For the integration, use Integrator for SAP only with SAP NetWeaver Portal v7.3 SP2 with note 1638641 Interoperability fix for SAML1.1 assertions in web services. For more information about this note see the web link section. Note that you need a user ID and password from SAP to access this information.

  2. Make sure that both WebSphere Portal and SAP NetWeaver Portal are installed in the same domain, for example example.com and have direct access to each other.

  3. For virtual portals, WebSphere Portal supports only one integration point per virtual portal.

  4. Use only the browsers and browser versions that are supported by both WebSphere Portal and SAP NetWeaver Portal. For details about browser support see the appropriate documentation:

    • For WebSphere Portal see the topic System requirements.

    • For SAP NetWeaver Portal see the product documentation on that product.

  5. To configure single sign-on (SSO) between WebSphere Portal and SAP NetWeaver Portal, we can use either of the following options:

    • HTTP Basic Authentication for single sign-on (SSO) to SAP NetWeaver Portal. To configure HTTP Basic Authentication for single sign-on, you

      1. Configure Basic Authentication for SSO for the SAP navigation integration.

      2. Configure Basic Authentication for SSO for the SAP integration portlet.

      3. Make the SAP integration portlet accessible for the users to enter their access credentials.
For details see the topic Configure Integrator for SAP.

    • A Security Assertion Markup Language (SAML) environment using IBM Tivoli Federated Identity Manager. For the installation and setup instructions see the product documentation of IBM Tivoli Federated Identity Manager. For details about setting up a SAML environment see

The navigation integration is temporary for each session and not imported or persisted in WebSphere Portal. Therefore the following limitations apply:
