Use a file resource element

Use a file resource element to store a file that can later be referenced on a Web page. To create a file resource element, you can either add a file resource element to an authoring template, site, site area or content item, or create a file resource component.

• Creating a file resource component

  You create a file resource component when you want to reuse a file resource in multiple places in your Web site.

• Add a file resource element to an item

  You add a file resource element to a site, site area or content item when you want the file resource to be used for a specific site, site area or content item.

• Add a file resource element to a template

  You add a file resource element to an authoring template when you want the file resource to be used by a set of content items that use the same authoring template.

• Referencing a file resource

  A file resource can be referenced within presentation templates and other element designs using either a component or element tag.
