Microsoft Office

Microsoft Office products allow you to directly open files on a WebDAV server without a dedicated drive mapping.

To be able to connect to WebDAV for WebSphere Portal by using Microsoft Office...

  1. Start a Microsoft Office product, for example Microsoft Word.

  2. Select File > Open. The file open dialog is displayed.

  3. In the field File name: type the WebDAV URL. For example, for working with portal pages and static content this could be:

    http://remote_host:10040/webdav/dav/contentmodel/wps.content.root/

  4. Enter your user name and password on the portal server. You can now browse the folder hierarchy.

  5. Select a file and click Open. You can now edit the file as required.

Updating a file and saving your updates by using the File > Save as . . . user dialog does not work for WebDAV. Instead, you can copy or rename the file, make your updates, and then save it.
