Portlet Factory, Version 6.1.2
Lotus WCM Access builder
The Lotus WCM Access builder retrieves content and components from IBM® Workplace WCM ™ and processes the retrieved items. The processing places the retrieved items onto one or more IBM WebSphere Portlet Factory pages. The builder can query WCM for metadata that makes locating its content and components easier for you. WCM is treated as a backend source of web page content, components, and design-time metadata. In WCM , retrievable page content is in one of the following broad categories:
The builder lets you retrieve content items and library components using various criteria, for example, name, path, and authoring template.
- Content items
- In general, content items are whole pages and page fragments.
- Library components
- Library components are items like images, text, and style sheets.
When the WebSphere Portlet Factory page to which this builder refers is rendered at runtime, the builder searches WCM for the specified content item or library component, retrieves the matching item, renders the item, and places the rendered item onto the WebSphere Portlet Factory page. Depending on the search criteria that the you select, multiple items can be retrieved. If multiple items are retrieved, the builder lets you control how they are laid out on the WebSphere Portlet Factory page.
The builder also can query WCM for metadata about the content items and library components that it contains. When a query is performed, the retrieved metadata is used to prepopulate various builder inputs with valid choices.
