Set up and run the NeoLoad Cloud Controller

In the activation email, Neotys provides the definition of the pre-configured Windows virtual machine that must be accessed through Microsoft Remote Desktop Connection.

The Windows machine (Windows Server 2008 English) contains a pre-configured NeoLoad Controller which requires a valid license to run tests.

  1. Connect to the NeoLoad Cloud Controller machine in remote desktop with the IP address, login, and password information specified in the activation confirmation email.
Use a Remote Desktop Connection to connect to the machine, as described in Use remote desktop connection.
  2. Change your password.

Your password received by email is in clear text. It is strongly recommended to change it right after your first connection:

    1. Click Start > Control Panel > Administrative Tools > Computer Management.
    2. Under Local Users and Groups, click Users.
    3. Right-click the user you want to change the password for, then click Set Password > Proceed.
    4. Enter the new password twice.
    5. Click OK.
  3. Secure the machine.

The NeoLoad Cloud Controller is protected by a Cloud firewall. Nevertheless, the following services are kept open: Remote Desktop Connection and NeoLoad Monitoring Agent connection. It is advised to restrain the usage of these services to your IPs by using the Windows Firewall. See Set up the Windows firewall.

  4. Activate your license if you are using Cloud credits or enable the VUH mode if you're using VUHs. See Payment options.

The NeoLoad Cloud Controller requires a valid license to run tests:

    • When using a dedicated license for the Cloud Controller, typically a daily rental or a term license, upload the license file and activate it as you can do it for a regular license. See Install a standard license key.
    • When reusing a license from a local NeoLoad Controler, transfer your license to the Cloud Controller. See Transfer a standard license key.

For more information about how to update your license, see Transfer files.

Note that a reused license must be transfered back to your local NeoLoad Controller right before the Cloud Controller is terminated.

  5. Upload your project.

Unless you design your tests from the NeoLoad Cloud Controller, you must upload your NeoLoad project from your local machine to the Cloud Controller:

    1. Export your project from the local NeoLoad Controller with File > Export Project. Excluding the test results generates a smaller archive quicker to transfer.
    2. Upload your project to the Cloud Controller. See Transfer files.
    3. Unzip the archive and store it at a location of your choice.
  6. Prepare your tests. Run them.
  7. Once the rental term is complete, the Cloud Controller is terminated and the virtual machine is deleted.

Note that a reused license must be transfered back to your local NeoLoad Controller right before the Cloud Controller is terminated.
