Quick e-Mail Version 5.02
Quick e-Mail Version 5.02 allows the user to send a simple e-mail message using either a Lotus Domino or SMTP server, in either WebSphere Portal Extend 4.2 or WebSphere Portal Multiplatform 5.0 or 5.02.
For information about working with the Quick e-Mail portlet, see the Portlet Help that is available from the portlet title bar.
Use Quick e-Mail
The Quick e-Mail portlet is configured by the portal administrator with mail server information. The user can edit no properties except for entering a name and password to use with the portlet.
The Quick e-Mail portlet sends messages through Domino or Internet mail servers that are set up to work with the portal. If the portlet instead uses a SMTP outgoing Internet mail server, you specify the portlet's configuration parameters to connect to that server, as well as parameters for an incoming POP3 or IMAP Internet mail server to verify users' return addresses.
Portlet security
The Quick e-Mail portlet does not support single sign-on (SSO), but a user can specify a name and password to persist for the browser session and avoid repeated authentication requests. If the portlet is configured to use a Domino server, the user must have the appropriate access to the Domino server that has been set up for use with Lotus Collaborative Components. The Quick e-Mail portlet is currently not supported over SSL.
Note Users can log in to the Quick e-Mail portlet with another user's name and password.
Test assumptions
The Quick e-Mail portlet has been tested on and is compatible with all supported WebSphere Portal platforms, as listed in Supported hardware and software .
Set up the Quick e-Mail portlet

Tip A Domino server can be configured to support these protocols. For more information, see the Lotus Domino Administrator Help.
Deployment/Installation
See the WebSphere Portal Help and Information Center for more information about installing portlets.
Configuration parameters
The following configuration parameters are available in this portlet.
Parameter Value mode The following examples are fixed values that determine the type of back-end server that is called to authenticate and send the user's e-mail: either a Lotus Domino server, or an SMTP server plus a POP3 or IMAP server. Enter one of them exactly.
Example: domino, pop3, or IMAPdominoServer This parameter is used when the mode is "domino." Do not delete it.
Specify the Internet address of the user's Domino mail server. The Domino server handles both sending messages and providing a valid return address for the user to prevent anonymous messages.
Example: acme.Dominomail.comimapPop3Server This parameter is used when the mode is "pop3" or "IMAP." Do not delete it.
Specify the address of the incoming mail server, either a POP3 or IMAP server. The incoming mail server is used to provide a valid return address for the user and prevent anonymous messages.
Examples:
pop3.myPOPserver.acme.com
imap.myIMAPserver.acme.comsmtpServer This parameter is used when the mode is "pop3" or "IMAP." Do not delete it.
Specify the address of the SMTP (outgoing) mail server. Note that the user of the Quick e-Mail portlet will see delivery failure messages if the SMTP server is configured to pass such messages to the portlet.
Example: smtp.mySMTPserver.acme.com
