Install a portlet and adding it to a page
Install a portlet makes it available to your portal users. Adding a portlet to a page makes the portlet accessible to users with the appropriate rights.
The objective of this task
The objective of this task is to step you through the following:
- Install a portlet to the portal
- Adding a portlet to a page
To install a portlet:
- Click Log in.
- Type your User ID and Password. This user must have appropriate access rights.
- Click Administration in the banner.
- Click Portlets in the navigation tree.
- Click Install in the Portlets section of the navigation tree.
- Browse for the WAR file in the directory in which the portlet is located. The portlet must be stored locally in order for you to install it on the portal. You can download portlets from the Portlet Catalog, or you can use one you have developed.
- Click Next.
- Verify that the portlet information that appears is correct.
- Click Install. After the installation has completed, a message should appear at the top of the screen indicating a successful installation.
To add a portlet to a page:
- Click Log in.
- Type your User ID and Password. This user must have appropriate access rights.
- Navigate to the page that you wish to add the portlet.
- Click Edit Page in the banner.
- Click Content to view the available containers.
- Click the icon in an empty container to add portlets.
- Click Search to locate the installed portlet.
- Check the box next to the portlet you wish to add.
- Click OK to add the portlet to the container.
Results
A portlet has been installed and added to a page. You can now locate and interact with the portlet.
